This is the original Berm, from the original drawings

. . . .  Unfortunately, we never got it.

Note that it was originally about 80 feet wide, and once it reached the water level, it extended for a gradual drop off for another 115 feet!

Instead, what we got was a much smaller amount of piled-up sand . . .  with no bench, no sloping drop off to absorb wave energy. No wonder it washed away in Gustav/Ike.

Take a look at what we were supposed to get . . .  It really makes me wonder if we would have been talking about a levee to wall off my house, if they had built the berm that was designed.
